People in the Customer Service department, should do just that with fidelity. I visited this Home Depot Saturday morning. Chuck and George were quite helpful in my quest to find a few products. However, Dee (didn't get her full name) in the customer service department when asked a question about using an account already appeared as though she didn't want to be bothered. As I began to ask questions for clarity she seemed to get agitated (which again this individual works in the Customer Service department). After making her statement she walks off to do something else and my issue was never resolved. I never got nasty (when I very well could have) but her divisiveness to the situation was uncalled for. When she returned to the counter she took a phone call and began to work on that situation, never once asking or checking to see what I wanted to do about my items of purchase. Thankfully Ashley at the counter asked me did I need assistance and she was able to do a much better job than Dee (or however her name is spelled on her apron). I would hope that she finished her coffee and had a better demeanor with other customers or that Home Depot work with her in customer service training again. It's a shame that someone in that department could not do what their department is "supposed" to do. If it had not been for the other individuals I encountered at Home Depot my rating would have been lower.
My wife and I recently purchased appliances from this store and it has been nothing but a nightmare. First they sold us an item that was on back order and didn't let us know this at the time we purchased. Then one of the store managers was very dishonest about delivery date. Now they tried to deliver today but didn't send proper delivery people and my refrigerator sat out in the rain for over an hour out of the box and couldn't be brought in the house because no one knew how to take the doors off. This resulted in the refrigerator going back to the store in the rain. I would recommend that you buy your appliances at Lowe's unless you enjoy being scammed and constantly lied to.
I have visited Home Depot and their big box competitor a thousand times over the past 20 years. What I have found is that Home Depot is more customer focused. Everyone is friendly. Items are in the aisle or bin where they are supposed to be. Mistakes do happen, but they get corrected to the customer's satisfaction. You will always find what you need; and you will either be left alone to browse, or get step-by-step assistance, whatever you prefer. And if there are any issues, you won"t get the 3rd degree on returns.
I'm so frustrated with the time I just wasted at HD Matthews. I needed to find a piece of lumber to use as trim for a small bathroom project. There are tons of workers there at 1pm on Friday, but none are trained to assist. "Jerry" is who needed to assist. He was paged, but didn't respond. I waited in the aisle and listened to the frustration from another customer who said he was just going to purchase what he "thought" he needed since it was impossible to find anyone with knowledge to assist available. I thought he was being impatient until "Jerry" never came out. After 15minutes of waiting in the aisle, I gave up! May be time for some cross-training if Jerry resides in the back of the store out of site and doesn't respond to pages. I will not be returning!
